|
Still, it's harsh to hear big news in the life of someone who's been a friend for years through the grapevine of LJ. Not that he doesn't have a history of not sharing with me things that I think are important. Whatever.
I am happy for the two of you.

John made me do it. The compatibility test thang. Even though I don't know why I would want friends who are just like me in personality.
EDIT: the sex part is cool, though. Hey Danny. ( Read more... )

2:27 pm - Not that there's much to say
|
I've been filming XXX2 this week here in LA. Couple weeks of that to go. Today and tomorrow surfing with Gio and his daughter Lucia, and Trent. Maybe John will come by tomorrow. Too bad Brian's in Chicago. Lucia reminds me of my Zoe at that age in a lot of ways. Bold, fearless, so smart it's scary. I'm going to try to get out to Manhattan next weekend; I miss Zoe something fierce and I haven't seen her for a few months. It sounds like her job is going fairly well, challenging with a steep learning curve, but she loves it. She's an assistant publicist in the Science Fiction/ Fantasy division of a large publisher, so I'm a VERY proud papa. Maybe I can snag a few advance copies of some new good stuff.
John's been all over the country promoting Ladder 49. Haven't talked to him much and it's very strange. I still don't know what the hell happened between us, and neither does he. Bewildering. I hope we'll figure it out before too long.

4:18 pm - Star Wars viewing party tonight
|
My place in LA with the DVDs of the originial trilogy. Cerveza, soda, and food provided; BYO lightsaber. Be provided to shout "FUCKING REVISIONIST!!!" near the end of the Cantina scene; the part with Han and Greedo, you know. Sorry, George; I love you except for that bit. Hot tub will be available during Ewok scenes.
At 11:30 we'll watch JT on Leno. I miss you, man.
[Probably won't be a chat because I'll be too busy watching ;) But if your character would like to drop by, just leave a comment. Sam needs some friends around him now.]

12:50 am - What can be said?
|
John is at his home in Malibu tonight. I'm in mine in Encino. I didn't see this coming, though I think he kind of did. He's more perceptive about things like that than I am. We're still friends, best friends, but I start the LA portion of filming on XXX2 on Monday and he's got promos for Ladder 49 to do all over the country. We'll see what happens down the road.

George reports on this nightmare he had. I, of course, now have a bellyache from laughing. Poor George!!! Oh, and don't try reading it aloud to your SO or whoever, that will just make the laughing worse.

2:44 am - Back-To-School Cleaning
|
Like spring cleaning, but in late August. I've cleaned out my friends list a bit, mostly just for my own convenience. If I've unfriended you, it's most likely because we don't talk much if at all. If you'd like to be added back, just comment. My journal isn't friends only, so no one misses anything anyway.
John and I have a date Monday night, thank goodness. We've hardly had time to say hello to each other this while while I've been filming ROTS in London, and were both feeling under the weather the week or two previous. I need to catch up with the people in my life who are most important to me. Uma had a sweet entry about playing with her children in the park and it made me realize I hadn't spoken with my daughter Zoe for maybe two weeks, so I called her. Got her voice mail and left a message. I forgot that it was Saturday night, and she has recently moved to Manhattan, so why would she be home?
I still feel rather out of sorts. Maybe it's just not enough time with John. I hope we can remedy that.

7:44 am - Today's Lesson
|
Communication is key, chil'en. Do it. Verbally and nonverbally. Every day. Don't assume they know. Even if they do, they want to hear it. Listen to your Uncle Samuel and learn from his mistakes.
Stimpy, I love you madly. It's been a fuck of a couple of weeks, hasn't it? Monday night. You, me, no one else. I miss laughing with you.

About two weeks worth of shooting on ROTS (I snicker every time I say that) starts on Monday.
An in-depth discussion of Who Would Win? Mr. Spock vs. Mace Windu is here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/thedestructor/32655.html Thanks to George for the link.
Where's my band name?! Who the fuck is Dave Grohl? Yes, I'm a geezer; you knew that already. But damn, I was getting close to having John talked into a nipple piercing.

7:35 am - The man is fucking crazy
|
In a good way.
I've been in a funk lately but John managed to pull me out of it last night. I'm not sure if I want to share details. Most of you probably don't want to hear them anyway. I'm sure George doesn't. No, wait, if I say that, it'll probably make Teri think that she does.
For now, suffice to say that we had a very good time.

3:48 am - Home Sweet Home
|
There are incredible advantages to having a lover who is a pilot and owns his own planes. We got back to LA this evening, and I barely want to leave the house all weekend. George still isn't sure when he needs me for filming in London. Originally it was for two weeks starting the 23rd, but now it might be sooner. Luckily, yes, my lover is a pilot, ready to fly me anywhere with just an hour or two of notice. There's still the LA part of filming for XXX2 to be done, but they know that SW:ROTS (*snicker*) has first priority.
You'll pardon me, I hope, for sequestering myself away with my pilot for the weekend.

2:07 am - How Sammy Got His Sap Back
|
Monday night we celebrated a month of a new aspect of our decade-plus friendship. John made a magnifico shrimp and clam garlic alfredo. His Mama would be so proud of his culinary skills. We went for a stroll to a nearby park, and he gave me this:
The reddish-brown parts are fossilized dinosaur bone. The three silvery inlays across are meteorite; up close you can see the crystalline structure. I absolutely love it -- the ring itself, and the thought & consideration, and as a tangible weight (it's heavy!) on my hand to always remind me of what we mean to each other.
Some of you may have noticed the ring that John's been wearing the past couple of weeks:
The two black outer strips are onyx; the inner is opal, which is hard to describe if you've never seen it. It's a sort of thin milky white with sparkly colors inside, green and blue and purple and golden.
Thank you, BillyandDom, for the loan of some of your sap. Obviously it helped.
I've never felt like this in my life.

4:04 am - Why it's dangerous to keep your laptop on your nightstand
|
After John got done laughing his ass off at the Viking Kittens singing Gay Bar, he insisted on again watching (and singing with) This Land starring Bush & Kerry. It's 3.7Mb but so so so worth it. This is why I can't get to sleep, I'm laughing too fucking hard.
